Samsung working on AI, and Pink coloured Galaxy S7/S7 Edge

Unfortunately, this launch is said to be only limited to South Korea so don't get excited just yet.

Just last week Samsung had launched a Blue Coral color variant for the S7 and recent teaser on Weibo suggest that the company is planning to release ‘Pink’ colour variant for the S7 Edge. There is no confirmation as to which device will it be but in all possibility, it is likely to be either S7 or S7 Edge. Also, it might be a Samsung’s version of ‘Rose Gold’. Unfortunately, this launch is said to be only limited to South Korea so don’t get excited just yet.
Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge
Ever since Samsung discontinued the infamous Galaxy Note 7, it is putting in a lot efforts to boost up the sales of Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. In an attempt to do so, Samsung introduced a new exchange program where Note 7 users can get S7 or S7 Edge in exchange and with an option of upgrading to Galaxy S8 or Note 8 (if it ever launches) with 50% waiver of the value of either S7 or S7 Edge depending on which one they bought.

Further, Samsung is reportedly working on ‘Artificial Intelligence’ powered Virtual Assistant which will be integrated into the OS in Samsung Galaxy S8. Samsung recently acquired Viv Labs Inc, an company based in San Jose, California which might well be a step up building up this Virtual Assistant. Further, Samsung seems to have taken lessons from Apple and Google as both the companies now have a Virtual Assistant baked into the software.

Revealing a bit about this Virtual Assistant, Samsung Electronics’ Vice President Rhee In-jong said – “We are developing a key major interface which will bring about a totally new paradigm; an open AI platform”.

“The current Galaxy smartphones need separate applications for users, for instance, to order pizza or coffee. But, the new AI platform will enable them to order (or do) things directly without going through separate applications,” he added.

Also commenting upon the third-party integration Rhee said – “Developers can attach and upload services to our agent. Even if Samsung doesn’t do anything on its own, the more services that get attached the smarter this agent will get, learn more new services and provide them to end-users with ease.”

Samsung really needs to do something exceptional with its next smartphone to cover up the Note 7 fiasco and acquiring Viv Labs Inc and then working on this promising looking Virtual Assistant looks good so far. The Galaxy S8 has already been rumoured a lot with rumours like an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, improved camera, slick design etc.
