Samsung Galaxy SII, Nexus S to get ICS in March

Though it would not be released in India now, it can be released within two-three weeks.

Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S II, Nexus S and HTC’s Sensation smartphone are set to get the latest 4.0 operating system update next month in France.

French mobile operator SFR has announced the company’s plans to push relevant Android updates for the supported smartphones. Out of ten Google Android OS running smartphones listed to get latest updates, only the four above mentioned models would be getting Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update.

Several handset makers are busy in development and submission of the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich based builds to Google. Once the approval after thorough testing is available, those companies will start pushing the Android 4.0 updates in phase-wise manner.

From the dates offered by French mobile operator SFR, we can certainly expect the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update rolling to certain Android based devices running Android 2.3.x Gingerbread. Of course, no India specific dates have been promised but we can count a decent one to three weeks of difference to that.

Google had started rolling out the Android 4.0.3 update for the Nexus S but paused mid-way after reports about massive battery drains and other issues with the update. However, it is the Samsung Galaxy S II owners are the ones who eager await the Android 4.0 update.

Next month, Samsung is expected to launch the Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich based Galaxy Nexus in India.
