Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ is launching on April 19: Confirms Samsung

The event is all set to take place in New Delhi at 12 Noon and we expect Samsung to stream the event online as well.

Post citing an edited tweet last week, Samsung has now confirmed that it will be launching its latest Galaxy S8 and S8+ on April 19 in India. The company has started sending out invites for the event which is all set to take place in New Delhi at 12 Noon.

What will be the price of Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ in India?
The company didn’t pour out anything related to price although we expect Samsung to price it similar to global prices. In the United States, Verizon is offering the Galaxy S8 for $720 (approx. Rs 46753) or $30 per month for 24 months, while the S8+ goes for $840 (approx. Rs 54545) or $35 for 24 months. The company also stated that those who are opting for pre-orders will get the Gear VR with controller and Oculus content pack. A limited edition premium bundle which adds a 256GB memory card and Bluetooth headphones by AKG will also be available for $99. Note that Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ is already up for pre-registration on Samsung Mobile India official website.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ Specifications
Samsung Galaxy S8 comes with a 5.8-inch Quad HD (2960 x 1440 pixels) Infinity display which is curved on both sides while the Galaxy S8+ comes with a 6.2-inch Quad-HD display. Both the handsets boast a strange display aspect ratio of 18:9. The Indian variant of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ is likely to come with Exynos 8895 chipset which is an Octa-Core processor clocked at 2.3 GHz. This is because Samsung sells the Qualcomm variant of its flagship in select regions only. Apart from this, the device packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD card.

On the camera front, the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are equipped with a 12-megapixel rear camera with Dual Pixel technology and aperture f/1.7 and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with smart autofocus and aperture f/1.7.MP F1.7 Smart autofocus front camera.

Both of them runs on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat and the smaller sibling is powered by a 3000mAh battery, while the Plus model boasts 3000mAh battery with fast charging on wired and wireless. On the connectivity front, both the devices support Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, USB Type-C, GPS, GLONASS and 4G LTE. The Samsung Galaxy S8 measures 148.9 x 68.1 x 8.0 mm and weighs 155g, while the Galaxy S8+ measures 159.5 x 73.4 x 8.1 mm and 173g.

Should you wait to buy the Galaxy S8 or S8+?
If you were looking to buy a flagship device priced over Rs 50,000 then you should definitely wait for the Galaxy S8. The smartphone not only packs a one of its kind design but is also a beast on specifications. Alas! we won’t get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 variant in India, but the Exynos variant is said to be equally powerful.
