Samsung Galaxy R coming to India in September

Built on the same lines as the Galaxy S2, the Galaxy R features a smaller 4.2 inch S LCD display and tries to keep things slim too.

After the successful launch of the Galaxy S2, Samsung has announced the launch of its newest Android based smartphone – the Galaxy R.

The Galaxy R Android smartphone features a design that is similar to that of the S2 with a slightly smaller display standing at 4.2 inches. The Galaxy R, however, misses out on the AMOLED display but gets a super clear LCD like the one featured on the Samsung Galaxy I9003.

As of now Samsung has announced the availability of this device in Europe first; the device is already available for the European market. Following Europe, Galaxy R will be rolled out globally including South East and West Asia, Middle East Asia, and China. There is no specific launch date for this device in India but it is expected to be announced in the month of September with which the pricing details for this device will also be disclosed.

The Galaxy R also features Android Gingerbread v2.3 operating system with Samsung’s touch wiz user interface on top of it. The new smartphone will also feature Samsung Hubs for delivering content such as gaming, music, social media and videos directly to the user.

Samsung has not clearly revealed much detail about the application processor for this new device except the fact that it will have a dual core processor. But it is expected that the new device will feature an Arm Cortex A9 dual core processor running ay 1GHz along with an Nvidia Geforce gaming processor. The Galaxy R will come with an 8GB of internal storage along with a 32GB expandable memory option as well.

A 5 megapixel real camera with a power LED flash has been included in the device which is capable of recording 720P high definition videos at 30 frames per second. For video calling, it also features a 1.3 megapixel front camera.
