Samsung has announced a new large screen display bearing smartphone -Galaxy Grand. This 5-inch touchscreen display bearing handset comes with Galaxy S III styling. The new Galaxy Grand GT-I9080 smartphone will come in two versions -single SIM and Dual-SIM versions. Packing lower resolution for the large screen display, the Galaxy Grand is most likely to be the affordable version of the Galaxy Note smartphone-tablet hybrid.
Samsung Galaxy Grand has a massive 5-inch touchscreen display and packs 480×800 pixel resolution natively. Indeed, that resolution makes the display appear real odd on the 5-inch display. Samsung has packed a dual-core 1.2 GHz mobile processor with 1 GB RAM to power the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system and the TouchWiz user interface.
Galaxy Grand will offer 8 GB on-board storage but one can always add a 64 GB micro SD through its memory expansion slot to beef up the storage. This device will offer the A-GPS and GLONASS support for more accurate and faster location based services. For faster wireless connectivity, it will feature WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 along with the cellular support for the Long Term Evolution network. Other sensors include Proximity, Accelerometer, Digital Compass, Gyro Sensor and Light sensor.
At the back, the Galaxy Grand features an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash on one side and speaker out grill on the other. This camera module claims to offer zero shutter lag and super quick camera start up. The camera should be capable enough to record 720p HD videos natively. In the front lies a 2 megapixel camera that supports 720p HD video.
Samsung has also added the S Voice to this smartphone along with the other services such as AllShare. This smartphone also supports the multi-window feature that allows the user open two apps and place them next to each other on the screen.
Samsung has packed a 2100 mAh battery in the Galaxy Grand. This smartphone will come in Single SIM GT-I9080 and Dual-SIM GT-I9082 versions respectively. Samsung is yet to announce its availability.
