Samsung delays Android 8.0 Oreo update for these smartphones

The Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017), Galaxy J5 Pro, and Galaxy J7 Pro phones will get Android 8.0 Oreo starting September 28, 2018. Currently, there is no information on why the roll out has been delayed.

Seems Samsung has pushed back the 8.0 Oreo rollout for some of its smartphones in Galaxy J-series. Reportedly, Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017), Galaxy J5 Pro, and Galaxy J7 Pro will now receive the Android 8.0 Oreo sometime in September this year.

As per a report of Guncelmiyiz, a Samsung site that tracks Samsung’s updates, the Galaxy J3 (2017), Galaxy J5 Pro, and Galaxy J7 Pro phones will get Android 8.0 Oreo starting September 28, 2018. Currently, there is no information on why the roll out has been delayed.

Interestingly, an earlier report had mentioned that Samsung will be rolling out Oreo update to Galaxy J3 (SM-J330F), Galaxy J5 Pro and Galaxy J7 Pro from July 13, 2018. The Oreo update was “in the test phase” for the Galaxy J family.

First spotted by SamMobile, the website further also reveals that the Android 8.0 Oreo update for Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 (2017) will start. These smartphones have already received the Oreo update in some markets, and now Turkey will also get the update soon.

On receiving the update, the smartphones will have picture-in-picture mode that lets users to two tasks simultaneously. So, for example, one can minimise a YouTube video while sending a text message or writing an email. Further, the Android Oreo has other features like including detailed Notification dots for every and Autofill passwords, faster boot times, background limits, installation of apps via APK, over 60 new emojis, notification dots, Wide-gamut colour for apps, Snoozing individual notification, Adaptive icons, Keyboard navigation, WebView enhancements and much more.
