OnePlus, a Chinese handset market, has announced to introduce its smartphones in India. As per the official post, the OnePlus One smartphone is available by invitation only for the International consumers. So far, there are no concrete plans on how the phones would be made available and whether the phones will ship with International warranty.
OnePlus One smartphone is made by Chinese handset market OnePlus and loaded the CyanogenMod custom system based on the Android Open Source Project code. CyanogenMod C11S based on Android 4.4 KitKat has been tweaked specifically for this smartphone and it also has some additional features. The unique thing about the OnePlus One smartphone is that the purchase was limited by invitation only. That means the OnePlus would get more control and direct interaction with the buyers – simply leaving out the middle men.
OnePlus One features 5.5-inch LTPS IPS display with 1920×1080 pixel Resolution and pushes Pixel density of 401 pixels per inch. This display has been constructed using Corning Gorilla Glass 3 technology to provide strength and protection against normal wear and tear. OnePlus has powered this smartphone with quad-core 2.5 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 mobile Chipset coupled with Adreno 330 GPU graphics. The One packs 3 GB RAM to run the system and process hungry apps easily.
Like many other handsets, the OnePlus One offers only 16 GB or 64 GB on-board storage with no memory slot. At the rear is a 13 megapixel camera packing Sony IMX214 image sensor with f/2.0 Aperture and six-lens array. Of course this camera can record full HD video and capture high quality images. In the front is a 5 megapixel camera for taking great self portraits.
The network connectivity features 4G LTE network support (even Indian bands) along with HSPA+ and accommodating a micro-SIM card. OnePlus also offers Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac), Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, USB On-the-Go, USB Host, NFC, and GPS with A-GPS as well as GLONASS.
Offered in Silk White and Sandstone Black colour options, the One is mere 8.9 mm thick and weights 162 grams. OnePlus has packed 3100 mAh battery inside this powerful smartphone.
The OnePlus One 16 GB model costs about $299 (Rs 18,000 roughly) while the 64 GB model costs $349 (Rs 21,500 roughly). These models are available through invite only method.
After recent arrival of Xiaomi, yet another Chinese handset maker is getting ready to set a foothold in India. Not only the handset brings several customizations, like Xiaomi’s devices, but also interesting price points to lure Indian consumers.
