OnePlus has been developing newer features for their older devices and has been continuing to do so by seeding OxygenOS betas to OnePlus 5/5T and OnePlus 3/3T while still individually updating its apps to do more. The Chinese company has now seeded an update to its Gallery App through Google Play, allowing its older smartphones to make use of OnePlus 6’s video editing features.
According to XDA Developers, all new features are concentrated inside the stock gallery app on OnePlus devices. The update enables users to add background music, apply filters, add a slow-motion effect to a video and trim video recordings right off the gallery.
The Gallery app which now displays the build version as v2.6.71 features a new pencil icon which will let you choose from three video editing options. While clicking on the scissors will enable you to trip clippings of a video, the icon with a music note will allow you to apply background music. Lastly, the option in the middle lets you apply various filters inside the video.
The latest update is available for devices as old as the OnePlus 3 all the way through the OnePlus 5T and it’s interesting to see OnePlus fulfilling the promise of supporting their older devices even when the OnePlus 3 is nearing the end of the road of software updates. The update can be downloaded from the Google Play Store by anyone using a OnePlus 3 or higher.
