OnePlus will participate in 5G trials in India whenever the networks are ready. A few days backOnePlus 5G prototype smartphone was showcased at MWC (Mobile World Congress).
OnePlus Spokesperson said to The Mobile Indian, ” As and when 5G network in Indiais ready for testing 5G smartphones we will be one of the first handset brands to be a part of the trials.”OnePlus began research on 5G in 2016. A year later, in 2017, the company started working with Qualcomm on OnePlus’ 5G device development.
There is a lot of buzz around5G but in India, it is far away for becoming a reality this year. At present trials of equipments are going on by select operators rather than checking out services or smartphones compatibility. Also,if everything goes well, including spectrum auctions, we might see the first rollout of commercial 5G services somewhere in 2021 and before that, it will only be trials limited to enterprise users.
5G is the fifth generation cellular technology that increases the downloading and uploading speeds over the mobile network and reduces the time taken by a network to respond ( latency). It is stable and has better energy efficiency as compared to the 4G network. 5G can provide a download speed of 1Gbps. The switch from 4G to 5G is dependent on infrastructureupgradation and spectrum availability. So one should not expect anything to happen overnight as network migration will take time and have to be tested for reliability
