OnePlus has confirmed that its upcoming flagship OnePlus 6T will come without 3.5mm jack. The confirmation comes from OnePlus Co-founder, Carl Pei, who revealed that the OnePlus 6T will not have an audio jack. So, OnePlus 6 might be the last OnePlus phone to come with an audio jack.

In an exclusive interview with TechRadar, Carl Pei said that the company decided to delay removing the jack by two years. Since the adoption of wireless headphones was less at that time, hence decided to delay it.

“We knew this was an option for a very long time, we were just waiting for the right time,” Pei said, as quoted by the website. The executive has also claimed that the removal of the jack has helped the company to “put more new technology” into the device and offer an “improved battery life” said Carl Pei.

He said that the removal of the has enabled them to free up some space which will help them bring in new technology. However, he did not clearly specify what he meant by the new technology but we assume he was referring to in-display fingerprint sensor as we already know that the OnePlus 6T will come with an in-display fingerprint sensor technology with its next smartphone.

Apart from this, he also mentioned that removing the 3.5mm headphone jack will bring a number of improvements such as an improvement in battery life. He also confirmed that the next flagship will come with a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter in the box for those who want to use their existing pair of headphones.
