OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T start receiving Android 8.1 Oreo OxygenOS 5.1 update

The latest update brings a host of new optimizations, and more with the stable update.

Afer rolling out the Beta update earlier, OnePlus has now announced the roll out the stable 8.1 Oreo update for its flagship devices, the OnePlus 5T and OnePlus 5. The latest update brings a host of new optimizations, and more with the stable update.

The update is about 766MB for both the smartphones and it comes loaded with an Android security patch for April 1 2018.

If you have a OnePlus 5 or 5T, you can check for the latest update by going Settings > System > About Phone > System Update. For those checking, but not able to receive the update, keep in mind that the update is incremental and will reach a small percentage of users today. The broader rollout will begin in a few days.

  • Updated system to Android™ 8.1 Oreo™
  • Updated Android security patch to 2018-04
  • Added full-screen gesture support (Only 5T)

Gaming mode

  • Added new optimizations in gaming mode including power saving and pausing adaptive brightness
  • Added network boost – network priority for gaming in the foreground

Launcher

  • Added category tags in the search section of the app drawer
  • Auto name folders based on category
