Nokia will release the Symbian Belle update on February 8th for Symbian ^3 devices such as Nokia N8, E7, C7, X7, E6, and C6-01.
The information was accidentally leaked by Nokia Vietnam’s official Facebook page which though has now been pulled out. The update will however not be an ‘over the air’ update as the file size will be big. Users will need to download the update onto their PC and then transfer it through the USB cable to the handset.
The new Symbian Belle update will bring in new features like new status bar, six home screens and improved widgets. It will also bring in better memory management, full NFC functionality (Tap to share), better web browser, updates to the camera app, and handful of other smaller changes.
All the new handsets of the above mentioned Nokia models are likely to come with the update while the update is likely to come for the older handsets shortly. If your device name doesn’t figure in the list don’t worry, if it runs on Symbian^3, it will get the update.
After this update, Nokia will bring the next update for the Symbian phones by the end of 2012 or beginning 2013. The update, nicknamed as Carla, will be meant for all the Symbian devices and will bring in changes like better browser, Dolby surround, and better widgets.
Donna, will be the last version and will be only for dual core Processor based devices. Post this update, only bug fixes will be made available till 2016; there after even that will seize.
