New Honor smartphone with Kirin 650 chip launching in India this month

The chipset promises to offer faster performance as compared to previous-generation 28 nm chipsets.

Honor, the e-brand from Huawei, will launch a smartphone in India with its latest Kirin 650 chipset. The company revealed this in a press release issued today. No information is available right now about the smartphone. However, reports points towards the Honor 5C which is set to be launched in Malaysia where the Grey and Silver variants of the phone are priced at RM799 or Rs 13,089 approximately while its Gold model is priced at RM849 or Rs 13,906 approximately.

The Honor 5C has 2 RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, micro SD card slot, Marshmallow operating system, 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 8 megapixel front camera, dual SIM, 4G, WiFi, and a 3000 mAh battery.

The Kirin 650 has been made with FinFET Plus 16 nm chip technology. The chipset promises to offer faster performance as compared to previous-generation 28 nm chipsets leading to reductions in energy loss and all-round solutions to lagging, slowness, and heat build-up. The new generation Kirin 650 also comes with silicon-chip level protection.

“Kirin 650 is a first to be introduced in India by Honor with a that offers 100% better performance for and 65% better performance when compared to the Kirin 620 processor. Moreover the power consumption is reduced by 40% Vs Kirin 620,” Huawei claimed in the press release.

“The Kirin 650, although positioned in the middle of the market, actually employs 16 nm FinFET Plus technology, making it two generations ahead of the competition due to its greatly improved performance and reduced power consumption. The Kirin 650 also comes with silicon-chip level protection that ensures user security, handling key information like fingerprints, keypad, and voice,” the release further added.
