Moto X4 Android One edition announced in the US

The smartphone will work with Google’s Project Fi and it will available for pre-orders starting from today at $399.

Google and Motorola have announced the first One smartphone in the United States with the launch of Moto X4. The smartphone will work with Google’s Project Fi and it will available for pre-orders starting from today at $399 (approx. Rs 25,816).

Further, owners of select Nexus smartphones can trade in their devices and get discounts of up to $165 (approx. Rs 10,675). Additionally, users who trade their smartphones by October 5 can earn $50 Fi credit. The Android One edition will come with a pure Android experience and Google has announced that it will receive Android Oreo update by the end of this year. Further, the smartphone will be also updated to upcoming Android P, which might be announced next year.

The new Android One Moto X4 will work with Google’s Project Fi wireless carrier. Google introduced Project Fi in 2015 and it basically uses a combination of wireless and cellular networks to place calls and texts. The technology uses T-Mobile, Sprint and US Cellular networks in the US.

However, the specifications remain the same. 5.2-inch full LTPS IPS display with protection. The device is powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 along with Adreno 508GPU. The phone comes with two storage and variants: one sports 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, while the other features a 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Both of the variants are expandable up to 2TB via micro card slot.

The major highlight of the smartphone is the dual-camera setup, which comes with a combination of a 12-megapixel sensor with 1.4-micron pixel size, f/2.0 aperture, and dual pixel along with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle with a 120-degree field of view, f/2.2 and 1.12-micron pixels. The camera also features phase-detection, dual-tone LED flash and has some interesting modes like bokeh effect, selective black and white, background change and video recording. For the front, the Moto X4 sports a 16-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 lens and front LED flash along with a 4-megapixel adaptive low-light mode.

The Moto X4 runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat and is juiced up by a 3000mAh battery with turbo charging. On the connectivity front, it supports VoLTE, WiFi 802.11.ac, 5.0, GPS, GLONASS, and USB port. The device will be available in Super Black and Sterling Blue colour options.
