Micromax Yu Yureka will be exclusively available on Amazon from January 13. The pre-registrations for the device were opened on December19.
Yu spokesperson has confirmed the development and said all those people who have pre-registered for the Yureka smartphone on Amazon stand a chance to buy it from the e-commerce site from 2 pm on January 13 along with a special gift worth Rs 999.
At the time of launch when The Mobile Indian had asked Rahul Sharma, co-founder of Yu, to share details about the stock that are going to be made available at the time launch, he said, “I cannot share details of shipment that we are bringing in and we will evaluate the response from the consumers over a period of three months become coming to a conclusion about the kind of shipment we need to address the demand.”
This kind of a strategy adopted by Yu is quite similar to that of Xiaomi who had in the past made their handset available via Flipkart through flash sales without revelling the number of handsets in the offering.
This kind of strategy is meant to create an artificial scarcity in the market and to build hype around the product. Apart from it, we feel that this kind of tactics is to know the demand among consumers before shipment is released so that handset players are not left with unsold inventories and their profit margin in intact. It also reflects that the company is not sure about even the minimum order it can expect.
If we look back whenever Xiaomi had held flash sales a select few consumers who had prebooked the device were only able to lay their hands on the devices. Most the consumers who didn’t get the Xiaomi smartphones had a feeling of being cheated as they were not informed at the time of pre registration about the exact time when the device would be delivered to them, defeating the purpose of prebooking.
Micromax Yu Yureka, was unveiled last week for a price tag of Rs 8,999. It comes with a 64 bit Snapdragon 615 octa core Processor that has a clock speed of 1.5 GHz and Adreno 405 GPU and claims to have Antutu benchmark score of 31117.
Yureka also supports 4G connectivity that is said to be 15 times higher data transfer rate offering speed up to 150 Mbps. Besides, it has a huge 5.5 inch IPS display but with only high definition resolution and not full HD which would have made justice to this huge screen. The display has though Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It comes in Moonstone finish and comes with a leather back panel.
The Yureka has a 13 Megapixel rear camera with f2.2 apreture and Sony Exmor sensor and 5P lens. The camera can capture slow motion videos in 30 FPS. In the front, it has a 5 megapixel camera with 4P lens and OV5648 sensor. It has 16 GB inbuilt storage and 2 GB DDR3 RAM. There is an expandable storage slot too for a micro SD card of upto 32GB.
