Micromax has raised the price of its Canvas HD A116 smartphone by around Rs 500. The Micromax Canvas HD A116 thus now costs Rs 14,499 against its launch price of Rs 13,999.
Meanwhile, Micromax has blamed the changes in custom duty and other procedural issues for the delay in shipment of the handset to those who have booked it. However to pacify the customers, Micromax and online retailer Snapdeal (which was offering pre-booking of the phone in partnership with Micromax) have said that those who have pre-booked the phone will get it at the original price besides a free carry case worth Rs 700.
“The proposed Finance Bill announced by the honorable Finance Minister of India on 28th Feb 2013 has made certain changes in the customs duty structure on all Mobile Phones with MRP greater than Rs. 2000/-. Because of this and other procedural issues, the shipment of your Canvas HD has been delayed by 10 working days. Along with the delay, the price of Canvas HD has also been revised to Rs 14,499,” Micromax said in an email sent to all those who have booked the Canvas HD.
The company further added, “We at Micromax, value your patience and trust. Therefore we have decided to ship your Canvas HD at the original price you paid, without any extra cost being charged to you. And we are offering you a free carry case for your Canvas HD worth Rs 700 along with your purchase as a token of gratitude!â€
However, those who do not want to wait any further, Micromax is promising to “refund the entire booking amount at the earliest”.
