Micromax, which claims to be the 2nd largest mobile maker in India and 10th largest in the world, today introduced the Canvas 5 Lite. The new smartphone by Micromax has a price tag of Rs 6,499 and is exclusively available on Snapdeal.
The Canvas 5 Lite sports a leather back with a metal body, as per the company. The Canvas 5 Lite sports a 5 inch HD IPS display and comes with 4G LTE capabilities. With 2GB DDR3 RAM and a 1 GHz MediaTek quad core processor, it promises decent performance. The phone has an 8 megapixel auto focus rear camera and a 5 megapixel fixed focus front camera. It has 16 GB of internal storage and surprisingly, it doesn’t have any expandable storage slot.
Besides, the Micromax Canvas 5 Lite has WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 2000 mAh battery. As per Snapdeal listing, it has FM radio, 3.5 mm jack and dual SIM.
Commenting on the launch, Shubhajit Sen, chief marketing officer, Micromax Informatics said, “Micromax has been relentless in its pursuit of launching Smartphones that combine superior performance with contemporary styling at accessible prices. The launch of the Canvas 5 lite is the latest milestone in our resolve to offer the best products at competitive price points.”
“The rapid Smartphone category evolution is constantly reshaping the preference of young urban consumers. They now expect top-of-line performance, 4G connectivity along with premium, modern styling in the budget Smartphone segment. We developed Canvas 5 Lite as a no compromise, All-in-one phone – for the festive season,” he added.
Surprisingly, Micromax launched the Canvas 5 Lite Special Edition well before this, in August itself. The Special Edition which is now retailing for Rs 7,799 and has model No Q463 has almost the same specs except a bit higher 3 GB RAM and an expandable storage slot of 32 GB capacity.
The new Micromax Canvas 5 Lite though will face a tough competition from Redmi 3S and the likes.
