Micromax announces Canvas Fire 4G; to launch phones with Mediatek Helio chipsets

Micromax will become the first Indian brand to launch a device on the new Helio premium platform using the Helio X10.

Micromax has announced a mid-range smartphone, Micromax Canvas Fire that runs on 64 bit MediaTek MT6735 quad core processor. Micromax has also announced that from now on all its Canvas series smartphones will come with 4G connectivity.

“We have always endeavored to offer products based on certain needs of the consumer. Moving forward, we will lead the 4G adoption in the country by converting all our popular value Canvas series to 4G. Canvas Fire 4G is the first in a series of such launches,” said Vineet Taneja , chief executive officer, Micromax Informatics.

Reportedly, the Micromax Canvas Fire 4G has a 4.5-inch display, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, card slot, 5-megapixel rear camera with flash, 2-megapixel selfie camera, dual speakers, and the 5.1 Lollipop operating sytem.

Meanwhile, Micromax has announced its partnership with Mediatek, a leading maker, to make high end 4G LTE-ready smartphones. Micromax said that it will soon launch a smartphone with the Mediatek Helio X10 chipset, and it claims to be the first Indian brand to launch a device on the Helio platform.

As per MediaTek-Micromax agreement, the chipmaker will provide its Helio family chipset to Micromax so that the Indian handset maker can bring premium smartphones. Micromax will initially bring phones with the 64 bit Helio X10 octa core processor.
