MapmyIndia introduces ReachMe app for Android, iOS, Windows Phone

ReachMe is at the new app to share location with friends and contacts with a simple tap.

MapmyIndia, a digital maps and navigation services provider, has released a new app- ReachMe. This application allows users to share their location details with their friends and contacts. The ReachMe has more of a social take to share location and also choose the best route. Apart from the app, the ReachMe can also be accessed through the web browser. The app is already available for free from the Google Play Store for devices, Apple App Store for devices and Windows Phone Store for Windows Phone devices.

ReachMe is a new social mapping app from the MapmyIndia hat. The service basically allows quickly sharing the location. The app offers unique number to the user for adding contacts manually or via a link to share the location. The unique PIN can be shared over the social networks to let the friends add you. Once the user is added via PIN, the best route to reach that person is presented on the app. ReachMe also offers the Follow Me feature to track the real-time movement on the map as the person approaches closer. Interesting bit is that the location can be shared as link and a PIN which corresponds to the URL.

On one hand, this app is the perfect tool for the close group of friends and family to note the exact whereabouts of loved ones. Sharing location is quick and easy instead of meddling around with settings. Only bothersome part is privacy and possibility of exposing location of others if the device gets stolen.

Several similar services exist in the various mobile platforms. Apple has baked the Find My Friends app for the iOS platform and offers similar set of functionalities. Even Google has My Tracks app which offers similar and bit more features to the platform.

There is a new service WoNoBo that offers 360 degree Street View level maps with details great enough to challenge Google’s Street View but yet to release its Android app in the Google Play Store.
