Limited edition Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime coming with QHD display: Report

Rumors point that Samsung will release Galaxy S5 Prime with Quad HD resolution touting display as a limited edition for select markets later this year.

Samsung is quietly working to introduce Galaxy S5 variant with Quad resolution (2560×1440 pixel resolution) and will make it available in limited quantities later this year, according to a report of Korean Herald. The report also added that the Galaxy S5 Prime will be introduced for select markets.

Samsung was supposed to introduce the Galaxy S5 with quad-HD resolution but could not achieve it due to high-cost of the display panels. However, the company plans to release some limited edition Galaxy S5 Prime handset with Quad HD resolution offering OLED display. In terms of hardware, it would be quite similar to the existing Samsung Galaxy S5 handset. So expect the latest TouchWiz running on top of 4.4.2 KitKat.

Samsung’s move is deliberate attempt to spark the mobile display wars with LG. Off lately, LG is rumored of using resolution display in the upcoming flagship smartphone – G3.

Anonymous source from Samsung, the Galaxy S5 Prime will be offered in very limited quantities. Obviously, the price of this handset might be higher than the regular Galaxy S5 version. As of now, Samsung remains tight-lipped about any plans of Galaxy S5 Prime release.
