The display will come with a pixel density of 564ppi and an aspect ratio of 18:9.
LG Display has announced a new smartphone 5.7-inch display with QHD+ resolution in South Korea. The display comes with a pixel density of 564ppi and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The company has confirmed that this display will be used in its next flagship device, hinting towards the much-anticipated LG G6.
According to LG, the display has been designed to provide an immersive viewing experience and the 18:9 aspect ratio is also optimised for multi-tasking, using dual-screen functions, which is now an integral part of Android 7.0 Nougat.
Furthermore, the display comes provide more touch responses, all thanks to the company's inTOUCH technology. The display also helps achieve a thinner and lighter smartphone due to the absence of Touch Cover Glass. The module (excluding the cover glass) is less than 1mm thick and has reduced bezel width by 0.2mm (20 percent) on top, and by 0.54mm (10 percent) on the left and right sides, compared to conventional QHD LCDs. The new display also features improved outdoor visibility and will consume 30 percent less power as compared to other QHD displays.
LG is expected to launch its next flagship device, the G6, just after Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017. Though, there is no information about the specification of the device, but recent 3D image renders surfaced online give us a glimpse of the upcoming device. According to multiple reports and leak, the G6 will ditch the modular concept but will come with a dual-camera setup. The device is also rumoured to come with 3.5mm headphone jack and the company is also likely to keep the Hi-Fi Quad DAC for high-quality audio output via headsets.
