Lava Xolo 900 gets Ice Cream Sandwich update

Lava has announced the availability of Ice Cream Sandwich update for the first Intel powered phone.

Lava has announced the availability of Android 4.0 ICS update for its Intel processor based Xolo 900 smartphone. Currently the phone runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

“We are pleased to announce that Android v4.0 ICS upgrade is now available on Xolo X900. We thank all our Xolo X900 customers for their patience and truly hope that the ICS upgrade will make your smartphone experience even more enjoyable,” Lava said on its Facebook page.

The Ice Cream Sandwich update for Xolo X900 brings performance improvements, a new user interface, Face unlock feature, improved multi-tasking and browser as well as several other enhancements.

The Mobile Indian had reviewed the Lava Xolo smartphone and we were surprised with its strong performance and battery life during the review. The update, we hope, will make it a better product.

Xolo X900 features a 1.6 GHz application processor, which has been provided by the world’s largest chip manufacturer Intel. Intel’s 1.6 GHz single core Atom processor is by far the most powerful and fastest chipset to feature in a smartphone. The phone is selling for Rs 17,500 and comes with a 4 inch screen and 16 GB internal memory.

The device in terms of multimedia has an 8 megapixel snapper encrusted with LED flash and it is capable of recording HD 1080p videos at 30 frames per second.
