Lava P7 gets Android Marshmallow, seven other phones to get the update soon

Post the upgrade, consumers will be able to enjoy a lot more benefits such as improved battery life, easy accessibility to app information, smoother and enhanced smartphone experience and many more.

Lava today announced the rollout of Marshmallow upgrade for its Lava P7 smartphone which was launched earlier this year. The company also announced its plans to provide the upgrade for most of its smart phones with 1 RAM, in coming few weeks. The other smartphones which will get the OS update include Pixel V2, X10, V2s, V5, X11, A71 and A72.

The Android Marshmallow brings ‘Now on Tap button’ feature that gives easy access to useful information and apps. Android M helps the smartphone battery to work smarter and save on the extra drainage. There is a ‘Doze’ feature in the Marshmallow that automatically puts the device into sleep state – which helps users save energy for some important tasks by increasing its standby battery life. Also users’ phone still set off alarm on its own, even when the phone is out of battery or switched off

The App Standby feature of Android Marhsmallow saves battery from extra drainage by the apps which are less frequently used. App Standby limits apps impact on battery life, so battery charge lasts longer. On the Lava smartphones with Android Marshmallow 6.0, apps designed for Android Marshmallow only ask for permission to access users’ data. Users can deny any permission and still continue to use the app.

The latest Android version brings better search, fast alphabetic scrolling and predictive app suggestions. Users can also use cards or external storage devices as extended storage for apps and games on Android Marshmallow.

To check if the update is available go to device’s Settings->About Phone->System Updates->Check now for update.

As far as P7 concerned, the phone was launched earlier in January this year at Rs 5,499 but is currently available for Rs 5,299.

The Lava P7 comes with a 5 inch IPS capacitive touchscreen with FWVGA (854×480 pixels) and 3. It weighs just 133 grams and is 8mm thick. It is powered by a 64 bit 1.2 GHz quad core processor which coupled with 1 GB RAM should offer decent performance. The device has 16 GB of and 32 GB expandable storage slot.

The dual SIM Lava P7 is backed by 2000 battery iwth Power saver mode that claims to offer up to 20 hours of talktime. In terms of camera, it sports a 5-megapixel rear shooter with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. There are other features in the device like Multi-Point Touch, Custom & Drawing Gestures and Smart Wake-up. For connectivity, this dual SIM handset offers WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS.

The Lava P7 is available in White, Blue, and Gold (With Pearl Finish) colours.
