Karbonn formally announced the launch of Karbonn A9, A7 and A5 Android based smartphone and the Karbonn Smart Tab 1. Karbonn also announced a sub brand Karbonn Smart under which it will sell its high end feature phone, smartphones and tablets.
While the A9, A7 and the Smart Tab 1 have been available in the market for sometime now the A5 seems to be a new device. While the smartphones are based on Android 2.3, the Tablet is based on Android 4.0 ICS.
Karbonn A9
Karbonn A9 is the current flagship model of Karbonn Smart, and features is based on Android 2.3.6 operating system. The Dual SIM smartphone features a 1GHz snapdragon processor, and a 3.8 inch capacitive touch screen with a 480×800 pixel Resolution (which is one of the highest in this price bracket). The phone also get a 5 Megapixel Autofocus camera with twin LED flash and a front facing camera for video chat. A 1600 mAH battery powers the phone that is priced at Rs 9490. Karbonn A7
Karbonn A7 is the middle of the range Dual SIM smartphone with 800 MHz Processor (based on Qualcomm chipset) and 3.5 inch capacitive screen with 320×480 pixel resolution. While the phone gets a 5 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and front facing camera for video chat, the camera is a fixed focus unit unlike the Aito focus one in A9. Rest of the feature set are the same except for the 1420 mAH. The handset is priced at a reasonable Rs 7490.
Karbonn A5
Karbonn A5 is the entry level offering with a 3.5 Inch capacitive screen and 800Mhz processor, which is the same as A7. Karbonn has only reduced the camera resolution to 2 megapixel without LED flash and doesn’t offer a front facing camera. Rest of the specification and feature is the same as A7.
Karbonn Smart Tab 1
The first tablet from Karbonn features Android 4.0 Ice cream sandwich operating system and comes with a 7 inch multi touch screen with 480×800 resolution which is standard set in the current crop of Tablets from various Indian brands. The tablet 1.2 Ghz Xburst processor. Apart from the WiFi opation, the tablet is being offered with free Reliance communication dongle for 3G connectivity.
Other features of the tablet include HDMI port, GPS, and 3700 mAH battery. The Tablet is priced at Rs 7,990 which is reasonable given the features and the free dongle that one gets.
