JioPhone pre-booking suspended but the demand still remains high

The 4G-enabled feature was made available from 24th August for pre-booking from both online and offline channels.

Reliance Jio has suspended the pre-bookings of the JioPhone through its official website jio.com without any information about when will they resume it again. The website is currently only allowing the customers to register for the phone.

The Jio website is currently displaying the message “Thank you India! Millions have pre-booked the JioPhone. We will inform you when the pre-booking resumes”. The website has apparently not given any reason for suspension of the feature phone. However, it is now only allowing buyers to register on the website by clicking on ‘register now’ option showing on the banner.

The 4G-enabled feature was made available from 24th August for pre-booking from both online and offline channels. The Jio website crashed for some time on 24th August when the phone went live for pre-bookings for the first time. The reason for the crash is quite obvious, it was unable to take huge requests for the phone following the wide interest of JioPhone among people. As per multiple media reports, the JioPhone had crossed the 3 million mark within a couple of hours of opening on August 24, with an advance booking of Rs 500 and the demand is still very high despite the suspension.

Meanwhile, if you have successfully pre-booked the features phone, you can know the status of your JioPhone pre booking. All you have to do is just dial 18008908900 and share your registered mobile number details to get an update about your pre-booking status. As of now, the number supports two languages – Hindi and English. The existing Jio customers can also view their status in MyJio under Manage Voucher section.

If you haven’t pre-booked the JioPhone and planning to pre-book now, then you can’t pre-book now. You can only register for the Reliance JioPhone. The ‘Register Now’ option will ask for your first name, last name, phone number, email id and code. Those who want to get JioPhone units for business purpose, they need to fill in additional details like company name, the number of devices needed, PAN number, etc.

On July 21, Reliance unveiled the JioPhone feature phone for the Indian consumers. The 4G-enabled feature phone is said to cost you Rs Zero. However, one has to pay Rs 1,500 as a security deposit, which will be 100 percent refundable after three years. The company is providing free voice calls, unlimited data and Jio apps for Rs 153 per month with Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan plans to JioPhone customers. Further, there two sachets, one with Rs 24 for two days and Rs 54 plan for a week. Users will enjoy the same benefits as the monthly recharge of Rs 153.

Talking about the features of the Reliance JioPhone, it comes pre-loaded with the Jio suites of apps including JioTV, JioMusic, JioCinema and more. The company says that the feature phone will also include some of the most popular instant and social networking apps, to ensure consumers continue to enjoy the best services. The JioPhone also comes with a voice assistant, which makes it easier to interact with the feature phone. Through the voice assistant, one can make calls, browse the internet and listen to music and more.

Coming to the specifications, the JioPhone features a 2.4-inch display with a screen resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. The phone will be powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core which will either Spreadtrum SPRD 9820A or QC8905 along with Mali 400 GPU. The phone is backed by a 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 128GB via card.

On the camera front, the device comes loaded with a 2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel front camera. It is juiced up by a 2000mAh battery, which the company claims to give a of 12 hours and of 15 days. On the connectivity front, it supports VoLTE, 4.1 with BLE, GPS, NFC and 2.0. It supports 22 Indian languages and the device will also come with TV-Cable that will allow users to connect their JioPhone with TV ( not only Smart TVs but also CRT TVs) to watch live TV. The company has priced the TV pack for Rs 309 per month.
