Infinix today launched the Infinix Hot 8 in India. The device will be available exclusively through Flipkart for an asking price of Rs 6,999. The device brings a drop notch display, triple cameras, a large battery, a unibody glossy design and Android Pie.
For Rs 5,499, Tecno is selling the Tecno Spark Go with gradient design, a MediaTek chipset, a dot-notch display and an Android 9 Pie-based interface. But before we get into the head on comparision, lets clear one Spark Go is available in offline market where as Hot 8 is online exclusive and thus the disparity in feature set. Apart from that one gets a Bluetooth headset worth Rs 799 with Spark Go and Hot 8 come with standard accessories.
Infinix Hot 8 gains its power from the 2.0Ghz MediaTek Helio P22 12nm octa-core chipset with IMG PowerVR GE8320, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The Tecno Spark Go is powered by a MediaTek Helio A22 quad-core processor clocked at 2.0 GHz and is backed up by 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
On paper, there’s no doubt that the Hot 8 will be snappier than the Spark Go since it comes with four more cores through the Helio P22, more RAM and more storage but considering the fact that it is offline focused product it is an for an attractive offering in it’s price segment.
The Tecno Spark Go comes with a plastic finish with a gradient hue to it. The gradient strongly shifts from blue at the top to a solid black at the bottom. While made of a polycarbonate body, the design doesn’t bring out the cheapness that other devices in the same segment tend to offer.
Infinix’s Hot 8 features a unibody design and does come with a gradient finish. However, there is a plethora of colour options – Quetzal Cyan, Cosmic Purple, Shark Grey and Midnight Black, which will please those who want a good but subtle design.
Infinix Hot 8 features a 6.52-inch LCD IPS 2.5D curved glass display with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels, 20:9 aspect ratio and a Drop Notch. The front panel offers a screen-to-body ratio of 90.3 percent, 400nits brightness, 269 ppi pixel density and 1500:1 Contrast Ratio.
The Tecno Spark Go comes with a 6.1-inch HD+ Dot Notch display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 85% screen to body percentage and screen resolution 720×1560. it is the best been offered in the offline market at it’s price point.
On the other hand, Hot 8 has a larger display with a better screen-to-body ratio which makes it stand out from other phones in the same category in online market.
On the camera front, the Tecno Spark Go is equipped with an 8-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash and a 5-megapixel selfie shooter. Photos clicked through the device were decent in the daylight scenario with good quality and colour reproduction, although with a single lens, you don’t get that much of flexibility.
This is where the Infinix Hot 8 steps in as the phone comes with a triple camera setup at the back comprising of a 13MP (f 1.8) 1.12um sensor, a 2MP Depth Sensor and a Low light Sensor with an overall field of view of 78 degrees. The Infinix is also blessed with a Quad-LED Flash and AR stickers and thus offers portrait shots and better low light images through the depth and low light sensors respectively but the picture output is just satisfactory.
Both devices run on a customised Android 9.0 Pie interfaces, namely the HiOS 5.0 on Tecno Spark Go and XOS 5.0 on the Infinix Hot 8. The user interfaces on both phones are similar to each other with an app drawer, quick access tool for shortcuts. There’s a few bloatware on both phones, make sure to look out for them.
Tecno Spark Go is backed by a 3000mAh battery while the Infinix Hot 8 gets its juices from a 5000mAh power unit.
It’s quite clear that the Infinix device will last longer on a single charge than the Tecno smartphone.
As a matter of fact, both the smartphones are targeting different set of audience Infinix is focussing on online audience and Tecno is targeting offline market as a result they are not competing against each other.
Tecno Spark Go is slightly cheaper at Rs 5,499 and it is one of the best smartphone for a consumer on a tight budget in the offline market and Bluetooth Headset is an icing on the cake.
