Idea Cellular denies hike in mobile tariffs

Some media reports earlier said that the teleco has increased tariffs in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh.

Idea cellular has denied the media reports about the hike in tariff in Madhya Pradesh and Himachal circles.

“We categorically state that there has been no change in our tariffs as reported by the media recently, and these reports are not true,” Rajat Mukarji, chief corporate affairs officer of Idea Cellular told ‘The Mobile Indian’.

Earlier, some media reports said that Idea Cellular has increased the tariff for its prepaid customers in Madhya Pradesh (and Chhattisgarh) and Himachal Pradesh to 1.3 paisa per second from 1.2 paisa per second.

Other operators also told The Mobile Indian that that they do not plan to increase tariffs in the near future.

Most telecom players like Airtel, Idea, Vodafone and Tata Docomo had increased the prices mid last year, revising it from 1 paisa per second to 1.2 paisa per second. But there has been no change in pricing since then except Vodafone increasing the price for postpaid customers this January, making it in line with Prepaid tariffs.
