Huawei P30 Pro EMUI update brings DC Dimming, multiple face unlocking and more

The update to the Huawei P30 Pro comes in the form of EMUI 9.1.0.178. It adds a DC dimming mode which when enabled prevents screen flickering in the phone’s AMOLED panel and thus helps reduce strain the user’s eyes. To enable DC Dimming, head over to Settings > Display > Eye comfort and toggle Flicker reduction ON.

Weeks after adding a Dual-View mode in the camera through an update, Huawei has now started rolling out yet another update to the Huawei P30 Pro. The update brings a slew of fixes along with new features like DC dimming, multiple face unlocking and ultra-low latency Bluetooth.

The latest update to the Huawei P30 Pro comes in the form of EMUI 9.1.0.178. Firstly, the update adds a DC dimming mode which when enabled prevents screen flickering in the phone’s AMOLED panel and thus helps reduce strain the user’s eyes. To enable DC Dimming, you can head over to Settings > Display > Eye comfort and toggle Flicker reduction ON.

XDA Developers reports EMUI 9.1.0.178 also brings Huawei’s ultra-low latency technology to the P30 Pro allowing users to make use of high-quality sound with no lag when playing audio or video. Users will also now be able to register a second face when using face unlocking and Huawei says it has also improved the in-display fingerprint scanner on the device.

Other updates include improvement in picture quality of the camera system, fixing the issues regarding selfie videos and display colours. The update also now allows messages and notifications to appear on the lock screen when using a live wallpaper. Other than that, the update promises to solve the screen not turning off automatically as well as system stability optimisations.

Huawei is rolling out the EMUI 9.1.0.178 update in a staged manner to all Huawei P30 Pro units around the world. You can manually check for the update by going to Settings > Systems > About Phone.

To recall, the smartphone comes with a price tag of Rs 71,990 for the 8GB and 128GB storage option. The Huawei P30 Pro sports a 6.47-inch FullView Display with a of 2340 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9.

In terms of optics, the smartphone features a Leica Quad Camera setup which combines a 40-megapixel primary camera with 1/1.7-inch Huawei SuperSpectrum Sensor and f/1.6 (27mm) lens, a 20-megapixel ultra-wide-angle secondary camera with an f/2.2 (16mm) lens, an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with an f/3.4 (125mm) lens, and a Time-of-Flight (TOF) camera. For the front, it features a 32-megapixel SuperSelfie camera on the front for selfies and video calling.
