Huawei Mate X foldable 5G smartphone reportedly up for pre-order via third party store

A company spokesperson reportedly told CNBC today that Huawei Mate X will be launched in September after more tests.

Yesterday, Huawei Mate X foldable 5G smartphone got received the 3C certification in China, which hints towards the imminent launch of this smartphone in China very soon. However, as of now, the company has not announced the launch date of Huawei Mate X foldable 5G smartphone, but as per the report published in the mydrivers website, the smartphone has been found listed on Taobao, a third-party store for pre-booking. The smartphone has been listed at a hefty price tag of 24,999 yuan (approximately Rs 2,51,339) and the store is claiming to ship the smartphone around June 24.

Between all these developments, Company told to the website that the “Huawei’s 5G mobile phone has not been officially sold, and it must be sold through official Huawei channels. The current release date has not been fixed, and the price is still unknown.”

Update:Company spokesperson told CNBC today that Huawei Mate X will be launched in September after more tests.The phone was scheduled for lunch in June. Further, the spokesperson told CNBC that Huawei is a bit cautious after Samsung encountered problems on their Samsung Fold smartphone.

Just to refresh, Huawei had announced the Huawei Mate X at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 held in February this year and later the smartphone was found listed on the official Huawei mall in China (VMALL.com) without release date and pricing. However, while announcing the phone at MWC, Huawei said that the smartphone would be priced at EUR 2,299 and would be hitting the markets in the middle of 2019.

As far as specifications are concerned, Huawei foldable 5G smartphone has a unique 3-way foldable design. When the phone is wide open, it doubles up as a tablet with an 8-inch screen having a resolution of 2480 x 2200 pixels. When its folded, the smartphone it converts to a 6.38-inch display at the back and a 6.6-inch display on the front with a resolution of 2480 x 892 pixels and 2480 x 1148 pixels respectively. The phone comes armed with a 7nm 5G chip called Balong 5000 coupled with 1.8GHz octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 980 processor. The device carries 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, which can be further expandable up to 256GB via card.

For the optics, the phone Mate X come equipped with Leica powered two-in-one front and rear camera setup, having three sensors, a 40-megapixel as the primary sensor, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle as secondary sensor and an 8-megapixel telephoto sensor. The smartphone gets its power from two batteries that will jointly offer 4,500mAh of power. It will have 55W Huawei SuperCharge technology that can charge the phone by 85 per cent in only 30 minutes and the company also claims that its charger can be used to charge the laptop as well.
