HTC Desire C launched for Rs 14,999 in India

HTC has announced yet another mid-range device - Desire C with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Sense 4.0 user interface.

HTC India has introduced a new mid-range smartphone – Desire C with Beats Audio technology. The new HTC Desire C has a 3.5 inch touchscreen display and is powered by 600 Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile processor. Running the new 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with Sense 4.0 User Interface, the Desire C smartphone will be made available at a Market Operating Price of Rs 14,999.

HTC had been working to introduce an affordable mid-range smartphone and finally introduced the new Desire C smartphone. Flaunting a metallic frame the HTC Desire C measures 12.5 mm and weighs mere 100 grams. Appearing as a stubby version of the current HTC One S or One X,it has used 480×320 pixel support which adds up to its con.

Under the hood, this smartphone runs Sense 4.0 user interface layered on top of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Powered by the 600 MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 MSM8225A mobile processor, the Desire C houses 512 MB and 4 on-board storage. Of course, one can add up to 32 GB microSD card for expanding the storage. At the back lies a 5 megapixel camera with LED Flash and geo-tagging support. There is no secondary camera in the front.

HTC has also, added Beats Audio technology for better sound output and consumers can buy one of the Beats Audio headphones from market to use with the smartphone. Other features include GPS with support, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, and proximity sensor. HTC Desire C incorporates a humble 1230 battery which rests in a removable back cover.

HTC Desire C competes with the Motorola Defy XT, Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus and Sony Xperia U mobile phones in the Android category. Though it stands head to head with other devices, the low resolution support could put it a step behind these other handsets.
