HTC Butterfly 2 with 5.2-inch, full HD display coming in 2014?

HTC is reportedly working on a different version of Butterfly 2 smartphone which is said to come with 5.2-inch full HD display and 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 mobile processor.

HTC is set to launch a new version of its Butterfly smartphone, called Butterfly 2, with a 5.2 inch display bearing full HD (1080p) resolution, according to a report of the Newcellphonesblog. The website has also posted few images of the Butterfly 2 that is said to arrive sometime in early 2014.

HTC announced the refined Butterfly S as the successor of the HTC Butterfly last year. The Butterfly S though was introduced in India for Rs 52,428. The HTC Butterfly S too has a full HD display but of 5.2 inch size.

The leaked images of the purported HTC Butterfly 2 model shows the consistency in the design of the Butterfly series such as placement of the speaker mesh strip on the top. The new change would be full screen display that includes capacitive menu buttons. Also the company is planning to offer colour options in the capacitive buttons area. But it is quite likely that HTC will offer these colour options for select regions just like the Butterfly S Hello Kitty Edition.

The Butterfly 2 will feature slightly bigger 5.2-inch display with the same 1920×1080 pixel resolution as the previous Butterfly models. We are not sure if this handset will continue to use the Super LCD 3 panel made using Corning Gorilla Glass 3 method. This handset is expected to be powered by the top of the line 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 mobile and 2 at least.

HTC integrated the Beats Audio and BoomSound feature in the Butterfly S model. With the recent departure of the Beats Audio stake from HTC, is too early to judge if there will be Beats Audio integration in the Butterfly 2. HTC is working to bring the next version Sense UI next year and it is safe to expect the Butterfly 2 to debut with that.
