Honor rolls out Face Unlock feature for Honor 8 Pro in India

The face unlock feature will be available via HOTA (Huawei’s over the air update).

Honor has announced that it has started rolling out Face Unlock feature for its Honor 8 Pro smartphone in India. The company has announced the update on its official Twitter handle. The update also brings the Android March security patch.

Honor India while replying to a user on Twitter has tweeted “We would like to inform you that our team has started to roll out the face unlock feature with B320 update for Honor 8 Pro. However, the update is rolling out in small batches.” The update is over 500 in size and it is being rolled out “in small batches”. The face unlock feature will be available via HOTA (Huawei’s over the air update). The update also brings the Android March security patch.

One needs to go to Settings > Security and privacy > Face Unlock and follow the instructions to set up the feature. Further, the update also brings smart lock screen notifications feature, which basically hides the content of notifications on the lock screen.

Honor 8 Pro started receiving Android 8.0 Oreo update earlier this year but the update did not include Face Unlock feature at that time. With this, Honor 8 Pro joins the league of other Honor smartphones like Honor 7X, Honor View 10 and Honor 9 Lite to support Face Unlock feature.
