Have Honor 7X? Get ready for a nice surprise

Note that the Android Oreo update for Honor 7X was first announced in April for the users in the United States. The update brings a range of new features including face unlock, floating navigation, redesigned settings menu, phone anager, quick shortcut menus, some tweaks in the Gallery app and much more.

Do you own the Honor 7X smartphone? Well if yes, then get ready for a nice surprise. Actually, Honor – the online-only brand of Huawei – has started releasing the Oreo update for the Honor 7X smartphone in India. As per reports, the update comes with EMUI 8.o interface.

The update brings Google’s Autofill API and picture-in-picture mode to the Honor 7X. Also included in the update is a new face unlock feature that seems to be the norm these days. There’s a new floating navigation dock that allows users to make use of their device from anywhere on the screen. The update also redesigns the Settings menu and the phone manager and brings quick shortcut menus from icons in the home screen itself.

Other EMUI 8.0 features include the ability to link up to two devices on and a new way to delete pictures and videos from the default gallery app. Huawei brought the EMUI 8.0 for the first time on its Mate 10 flagship to work alongside its own Kirin 970 chipset. There’s a much newer version of the same that has been seen running on the newest Huawei P20 and P20 Pro that comes shipped with EMUI 8.1 alongside Android 8.1. Nevertheless, it’s a step forward for the development of Honor 7X, considering many smartphones of yesteryear haven’t been updated to Google’s latest interface even till now.

Coming to Honor 7X, the phone was launched in India December last. Honor 7X boasts a metal unibody and a 5.93-inch full (2160 x 1080 pixels) display with 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 659 2.36GHz octa-core processor, along with Mali T830-MP2 and can hold up to a 256 micro SD card in its expandable storage slot. The Honor 7X is backed by a 4GB of RAM and it comes in 32GB and 64GB of internal storage options. The smartphone runs on Android 7.1 Nougat operating system and has the Huawei Emotion UI 5.1 (EMUI) user interface. A 3340 mAh non-removable battery is inside the phone with technology which claims to offer up to 21 hours of talk time.

The Honor 7X’s 32 GB version is selling for Rs 12,999 while the 64 GB model costs Rs 15,999.
