Finally, Samsung has unveiled its flagship Galaxy S III smartphone for the Indian market. After the entire buzz, it was a great experience to hold the much hyped device for the first time. We got a chance to experience the Galaxy S III during a press event that took place in Delhi.

Although the price of the device just blew all the expectations but the Galaxy S III comes with a great set of features which are bound to impress anyone who sees it.

The designing of the device says it all about how much time has been spent in the making of this device, just to make it perfect for every individual. The device itself is very slim and lightweight, making it extremely easy to handle and use.

Galaxy S III comes in two colours, pebble blue and marble white. Both options feature a high gloss finish polycarbonate body that makes it lightweight, durable and immune to dents and bruises during falls to an extent. The device features trimming on the edges all around the device that give it a unique accent as well.

The Samsung Galaxy S III features a 4.8-inch Super that has PenTile pixel arrangement (two subpixels per pixel) and has about 306 pixels per inch pixel density. The screen has a of 1280 x 720 pixel. The display is great for almost all the tasks and is also protected by a scratch resistant surface to protect it from damages that can happen from daily use and occasional drops.

The Galaxy S III comes preloaded with Ice Cream Sandwich operating system with an upgraded version of the Touchwiz user interface that has been dubbed as the Nature user experience which makes this device fun to use. The Galaxy S III comes with a quad-core 1.4 GHz Exynos 4 mobile with a dedicated Mali 400 graphic processor that makes sure that the device never goes low on performance.

The smartphone features a revolutionary S voice application that is a voice based assistant like iPhone 4S’s Siri. It is perfectly integrated with Android and applications of the phone. The S voice works perfectly in identifying the Indian accent and acts accordingly. Although at times the S voice application takes up little more time to react but the beauty of this application is that it perfectly understands every word said to it.

The Galaxy SIII for imaging features an 8 camera with auto focus and LED flash at the back. It can record full 1080p videos at 30 frames per second. Along with that the camera comes with a burst mode and a best photo mode as well. In the best photo mode, the Galaxy SIII automatically detects the best picture out of a lot of pictures it clicked.

At the front lies a 1.9 megapixel camera that is capable of recording 720p HD videos; it can be used for video chats as well.

Samsung has included a new 4.0 (LE) module along with totally new feature called S Beam which offers blistering fast transfer speeds allowing users to share a 1 movie file in less than three minutes. The Galaxy S III will feature a 2100 battery which is a very good considering the 4.8inch size of the display.

In terms of innovations, Samsung has really gone overboard with the Galaxy S III. The device comes with a ‘Smart Stay’ feature that recognises the eyes of the users while browsing the web or doing other such activity requiring display to be on and the moment the user’s eye contact is broken, the device automatically goes to standby mode after a few seconds, thus saving battery charge.

Another feature we liked is the Video Window feature. It allows users to close the video window midway and do something else like checking email during which the video window will float on the display.

Samsung has also announced a range of accessories for this device that include a Smart Pen, our favorite that add Galaxy Note like functionality to the S III. Along with that there are flip covers in various colours, docks, and even a wireless charging station for the device available as an optional accessory.

The Samsung Galaxy S III although is great and so is its experience but the price of the device has been kept on the higher side. In India, the Samsung Galaxy S III costs Rs 43,100 which is little too high for the 16 GB variant.
