Multiple Google Pixel users are now reporting a new bug on their respective smartphones about Google search bar on their home screens. The bug has been infested in all Pixel devices including first-generation Pixel XL along with Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.
Multiple users took this problem on Reddit and they say that Google search bar is not listing their search history or suggestions of any kind when they tap to search for something. Users are reporting that performing a reboot does not solve the problem either. “Not sure what the deal is but this was my primary way of finding apps on the Google launcher… Tap the bar type the first one or two characters of the app name and then tap on it. As of this morning, it no longer is searching for them. Persists through a reboot as well,” said one user on Reddit.
As per Android Police, the bug has been spotted on Android 8.1 Oreo and the Android P Developer Preview 4. Google is yet to make an official statement about the latest bug. The report highlights that versions 22.214.171.124 and 126.96.36.199 of the Google app might be the reason behind this bug.
Interestingly, a Reddit user has claimed to found a workaround for this issue. The user says that by enabling Google Feed inside the Pixel launcher on the Pixel 2 XL the suggestions started working once again. However, this temporary fix might not work for everyone.
