From next week, you can tweet more

Back in May, Twitter first announced its plans to implement such a change.

Famous social networking platform Twitter is all set to implement a big change beginning September 19th 2016. According to the latest reports, media attachments such as images, GIFs, videos, polls etc. won’t reduce the content count. Even the quoted tweets won’t be counted as a character which in turn will make extra room for text.

Back in May, Twitter first announced its plans to implement such a change. Back then, Twitter CEO and co-founder, Jack Dorsey had said, “One of the biggest priorities for this year is to refine our product and make it simpler. We’re focused on making Twitter a whole lot easier and faster. This is what Twitter is great at – what’s happening now, live conversation and the simplicity that we started the service with.”

So post the changes next week, if you have mentioned @name or any images, GIFs, videos and polls, it won’t count as a character for your tweet.

This character limit has been one of the key elements of Twitter. This limit makes it for quick short and simple messages which is what Twitter is famous for. Jack Dorsey has previous praised the 140 character limit describing as a beautiful constraint.

In the other news, the social network platform is also working on a feature through which users will be able to communicate with the business via Direct Message as mentioned by The Indian Express. This feature will enable business and brands interact with their customers privately rather than via public tweets.
