Find My iPhone app now gives driving directions

Now you can play loud sounds or erase data directly from the map view on the new updated Find My iPhone app.

Apple has updated its in-house developed application, Find My iPhone, with driving directions. So the Find My iPhone, which originally meant to locate the lost iPhone only, can now also give driving direction to the spot where the iPhone has been located.

Apple had launched the Find My iPhone application some time back using which a user can not only locate his iPhone but can also wipe out data from the device remotely either by using the on other devices or by using the app’s web interface.

The updated Find My iPhone application now offers driving directions to the location of the iPhone device being tracked. However, looking at the horror stories and debacles caused by the latest Apple Maps app that stranded few users in Australia in the middle of a jungle instead of a city, it becomes difficult for users to judge whether the actual location or driving directions are accurate or not.

With this app one can also display a custom message on the iPhone, play sounds for two minutes at a full volume or even remotely wipe all data on it. The update now brings three major buttons – Play Sound, Lost Mode and Erase on the Map View. To use the Find My iPhone app, one requires an active iCloud account associated with the lost device, and the access device to be running iOS 5 or later version.
