Huawei has announced that it has opened Beta recruitment for its latest EMUI 9.0 user interface to nine Huawei and Honor smartphones. The company has announced an open beta update for its MediaPad 8.4-inch and MediaPad 10.8-inch tablets as well.

The company announced this news on its official Weibo handle. Coming to Honor smartphones, Honor V9, Honor 9 and Honor Note 10 are up to Open Beta for the latest user interface. Further, Huawei MediaPad 8.4 and MediaPad 10.8 are open for public testing via EMUI 9.0 Open Beta.

In order to enrol in the Open Beta programme, users need to make sure that the phone is not rooted. Further, it should have more than 6GB of internal storage, otherwise, there will be a risk of an upgrade failure. It is important to note that the Open Beta programme is currently being rolled out in China and there is no information on whether it will be available for global testing or not.

Previously, Huawei rolled out a global stable update for its latest EMUI 9.0, which is based on 9.0 Pie to some Huawei and Honor smartphones. The brand rolled out the latest update to the Huawei Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, Huawei P20, P20 Pro, Honor Play, Honor 10 and Honor View 10.

With EMUI 9.0, Huawei is offering a simplified design inspired by nature, thus bringing natural experience with ambient natural sounds when using ringtone and alarm alerts. The design applies scenes of nature in everything from colour selections to default caller portraits.

In addition to that, the new EMUI 9.0 update supports a brand new mode of navigation – gestures. Users can now intuitively control their device with simple swipes instead of clicking on buttons, thus combining the goodies from Google’s Android Pie and Huawei EMUI 9.
