Huawei has officially announced its EMUI 5.0 which is based on Android 7.0 Nougat. Although the company first introduced the EMUI 5.0 back in November 2016 with Huawei Mate 9, the Chinese multinational has now introduced it officially in India. As per Huawei, Honor 8 Lite will be the first device to come with EMUI 5.0 out-of-the-box while Honor 8, Honor 6X, Honor 5C and Huawei P9 will receive the update in May 2017.
The new EMUI brings one-button navigation, Intuitive Interactions, machine learning and improved security, claims Huawei. Further, EMUI is more light on the memory and allocates resources optimally ensuring a smooth experience all throughout. Also, Huawei has developed a fast memory recycling mechanism that combines an exclusive memory compression technology to dynamically increase available memory and performance. In other words, you will no longer require any background cleaning of apps which optimally runs in the background for faster loading. Huawei also claims that EMUI 5.0 banks heavily on machine learning. In other words, the UI will learn your usage patterns over time and display the content accordingly.
The new UI also brings a new mode called – ‘Privacy Space’ that switches access using a revamped fingerprint technology. Moreover, it also combines cloud-based dynamic and static antivirus with a local antivirus and scans hyperlinks in SMS on a real-time basis for effective security.
Apart from these, we have App Twin for running two app accounts on a single device, Huawei Share which lets you seamlessly share data between Huawei and Honor phones. Huawei has also integrated the default Calendar app while the whole UI support 14 languages including Tamil，Telugu， Punjabi Kannada，Gujarati, Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Assamese, Nepali, Malayalam, Oriya, Urdu, and Maithili.
