After a dull last week, this week (November 21-25, 2016) we witnessed the launch of a few phones and a laptop for the Indian market. Here are details of the devices.
Oppo launched and upgraded variant of its F1s smartphone. The new Oppo F1s smartphone has a 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage as compared to the 3GB Ram and 32 GB Internal Memory in the previous version. The smartphone is priced at Rs 18,990 and comes in Grey and Gold colours options. As far as the other specification are concerned, the new Oppo F1s features a 5.5-inch HD (720p) IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. It is fueled by a 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek (MT6750) processor, along with Mali T860 GPU.
It can hold upto 128GB expandable storage via microSD card. The smartphone get is strength from a 3075 mAh non-removable battery. The smartphone also houses a fingerprint scanner that claims to unlock the phone in just 0.22 sec and it can be used to unlock the apps as well.
On the camera front, it has 16-megapixel selfie camera which comes with 5P lens, and f/2.0 aperture, On the back it flaunts 13-megapixel shooter with LED Flash, PDAF, and f/2.2 aperture. Besides, the phone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop which is wrapped under with ColorOS 3.0 user interface. Other than that the Oppo F1s offers 4G LTE connectivity with VoLTE support, WiFi (802.11 a/b/g/n), GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, and a microUSB port. The handset measures 154.5 x 76 x 7.38 mm and weighs 160 grams.
Intex this week launched its new affordable 4G VoLTE smartphone under its Aqua series, named as Intex Aqua E4. The smartphone is priced at Rs 3,333 and is exclusively available through Shopclues.
Intex Aqua E4 features a 4-inch (480 x 800 pixels) TFT display and comes equipped with a 1GHz quad-core (MT6735M) processor, along with ARM Mali-T720 MP1@450MHz GPU. It comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, which can be further expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. The smartphone runs on on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system and is backed up by an 1800mAh battery, which claims to offer up-to 6 hours of talk time and up-to 200 hours of standby on 4G network.
The Aqua E4 sports a 2-megapixel camera setup on its back, as well as on its front panel. Camera features include Panorama Mode, Face Beauty, Victory Gesture and dual-LED flash. Besides, the smartphone offers Dual SIM, 4G with VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.0, a microUSB port, GPS/AGPS, Wi-Fi, G-Sensor, Emergency Rescue and Smart gesture. It also comes with pre-loaded apps such as Matrabhasha, Online Software Update, Newshunt, Saavn, and Lfty. The handset measures 124.1 x 64.2 x 9.8 mm and weighs 136 grams.
Panasonic launched its new Eluga series smartphone in India this week, which is named as Panasonic Eluga Mark 2. The smartphone is priced at Rs 10,499 and is now available exclusively through Flipkart.
The Panasonic Eluga Mark 2 comes with a full metal body made of aircraft grade aluminium alloy. It features a 5.5-inch HD IPS display with 2.5D curved Asahi Dragon Trail glass and topped with On-Cell Touch technology. The smartphone is powered by a 1.3GHz 64-bit Octa-core processor, which is paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB Internal memory, with the option to expand the storage up to 128 GB by using microSD card. The Eluga Mark 2 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Android-For-Work functionality for enhanced security.
On the camera front, the Eluga Mark 2 offers a 13-megapixel primary camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. The camera features include f2.2 Aperture, 5P lens Element, Auto Focus, Manual Focus, HDR, Scene mode, Night Scene Mode, and Face Beautify. The smartphone is backed up by a 3000 mAh Li-Polymer battery with Fast charging feature. The device also comes with a fingerprint scanner, which is integrated on its back panel. The fingerprint scanner can also be used for clicking selfies by just tapping the sensor. It also has an Infrared sensor which operates numerous infrared based electronic devices like Television, Air Conditioner etc. Besides, the smartphone offers Dual SIM, 4G with VoLTE, a Micro USB port, USB On The Go, GPS, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, E-compass, Gravity Sensor, Proximity Sensor, and Light Sensor.
Asus Zenbook 3
Asus also launched its Zenbook 3 laptop (UX390UA) in India this week. The laptop comes in three variants – Intel Core i5 variant with 8GB/512GB priced at Rs 113,990, the Intel Core i7 variant with 8GB/512GB, SATA3 cost Rs 123,990, whereas for Intel Core i7 variant with 16GB/512GB, PCIE G3x4 one has to pay Rs 147,990. The Zenbook 3 laptop has three colours to choose from – Royal Blue, Rose Gold and Quartz Grey.
The Asus Zenbook 3 laptop has an aerospace-grade aluminium alloy body and features a 12.5-inch LED Back-lit Full HD (1920×1080) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. It is powered by 2.7GHz (4M Cache, up to 3.5GHz) up-to Intel Core i7-7500U processor with Kaby Lake architecture, clubbed with Intel HD Graphics, LPDDR3 8GBG/16GB RAM and PCIEG3x4 512G M.2 SSD/512G SATA3 M.2 SSD. The laptop runs on Windows 10 (64bit) operating system. It features a full-size backlit keyboard with 19.8mm key pitch.
The Zenbook 3 has VGA Resolution web camera (Fixed type). It also houses a Fingerprint scanner with Windows ‘Hello’ and has USB3.1-Type C port as well. For cooling the system, it has world’s thinnest fan design at just 3mm. The laptop is backed up by a 40WHrs, 2S3P, 6-cell Li-Ion Polymer Battery Pack, which claims to deliver up to 9 hours of battery life for all-day. Further, it comes with fast-charge technology, which claims to charge the battery up to 60% capacity in just 49 minutes. The laptop comes with various pre-loaded software such as Asus Finger Print, Asus Smart Gesture, Asus Splendid, Asus WebStorage, Sync Agent, Intel Anti-theft, and HDD User Password Protection and Security. Besides, the laptop offers quad-speaker audio by Harman Kardon, palm-rejection technology, Built-in array microphone, handwriting support. The laptop measures 29.6(W) x 19.1(D) x 1.19 (H) cm and weighs 910 grams (with 6 cell battery).

Ziox Zelfie
Apart from the smartphones and laptop, a feature phone was also launched mid this week. Ziox Mobiles announced the launch of its new feature phone, named as Ziox Zelfie. The phone is priced at Rs 1,423 and is available for purchase across all leading retail stores in India. The Zelfie phone is available in Grey + Black, Black + Silver, Grey + Silver and Black + Champagne colour options.
The x-factor of this feature phone is its front camera setup which comes with a LED Flash for clicking selfies in low light conditions. It also has the rear camera which also comes with a LED flash.
The Zelfie phone offers a 2.4-inch display, an 1800 mAh battery, support up-to 16GB expandable memory, Wireless FM, Multi Language support, MP3 and video player, Bluetooth, and Auto call recording. Moreover, the device can store up to 1000 plus contacts and 200 SMS at the same time.
HTC launched of its two new smartphones at an event in Delhi late this week- the HTC Desire 10 Pro and HTC 10 evo. The HTC Desire 10 Pro is priced at Rs 26,490. The Desire 10 Pro will be available by 15 December while the evo 10 will be available by December end. The Desire 10 Pro will be available four colour variants – Stone Black, Polar White, Royal Blue and Valentine Lux colour.
HTC Desire 10 Pro has a 5.5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) IPS display with 400ppi Pixel density with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It has an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor, 4 GB of RAM, HTC BoomSound stereo speakers in the front, and Dolby Audio technology. The smartphone comes with a 20-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, BSI sensor, laser Autofocus Æ’/2.2 Aperture and 27.8mm focal length, Auto HDR mode, Panorama mode, Continuous shooting. For selfies, it comes with a 13-megapixel front camera. The HTC Desire 10 comes with 64 GB inbuilt storage which can be expanded through a micro SD card to up to 2TB. This Android 6.0 Marshmallow based smartphone has HTC’s Sense UI on top and a 3,000 mAh battery with power saving mode which is said to offer up to 19 hours of talk time and 20 days of standby time on 3G network. The device also features a fingerprint sensor on the back.
For connectivity, the Desire 10 Pro dual SIM offers 4G, WiFi, GPS/AGPS + GLONASS, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5 mm stereo Audio Jack and micro-USB 2.0. It comes with the Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor, Compass sensor, Sensor Hub and Motion G-sensor. The phone measures 156.5 x 76 x 7.86 mm and weighs around 165 grams.
The HTC 10 evo comes with IP57 dust and waterproofing rating and has a metal unibody design. It features a 5.5-inch QHD (1440 x 2560 pixels) Super LCD 3 display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and is powered by a 2GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, along with Adreno 430 GPU. The 10 evo comes with 3GB of RAM, and 32GB internal storage, which can be further expanded to 2TB via a microSD card. The smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system which is wrapped under HTC Sense UI.
The HTC 10 evo has a 3200 mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0 feature which is said to offer up to 23 hours of talk time and 20 days of standby time on the 3G/4G network. On the camera front, the smartphone offers 16-megapixel shooter with dual-LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, OIS, and PDAF on its back. On its front, it has an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video chats. Further, the smartphone offers 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 4,1, GPS/AGPS/ GLONASS, NFC, USB Type-C, USB-C audio, and BoomSound Audio. The handset measures 153.6 x 77.3 x 8.1 mm and weighs 174 grams.
