Coolpad to make one million handsets in first half of 2016

Coolpad also announced that the black variant of the Coolpad Note 3 will be available from Amazon from today.

Coolpad today announced that the company will produce one million “Made in India” Coolpad handsets in the first half of 2016.

Speaking on the occasion Guo Deying, chairman and former chief executive officer of Coolpad Group said, “In October, we announced an investment of over $300 million in manufacturing, R&D and ID design in India. Keeping up with our commitment of Make in India, we are proud to announce that we will initiate the first phase of our investment by manufacturing one million Coolpad “Made in India” smartphones by the first half of 2016.”

He further added, “These smartphone will be manufactured at our Indian partner Videocon’s facility which is situated in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. Recently, our leadership team visited Videocon facility to assess and finalise on how much support and technical expertise is required by our partners to manufacture Coolpad smartphones which are known around the world for their cutting technology and affordability.”

Coolpad India also announced the availability of black variant of Coolpad Note 3 exclusively on Amazon.in starting today. The company launched Coolpad Note 3 in October for Rs 8, 9999 in India.

To recap on the specifications, Coolpad Note 3 offers fingerprint sensor, a 5.5 inch screen, 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of in build storage. The smartphone supports LTE, and GSM network frequencies along with a slot. It features a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with flash and auto focus alongside a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Both the front and rear-facing cameras feature CMOS image sensor for better image quality and powered by a 3,000mAh battery.
