BEAM, a mobile wallet service provider, has announced the launch of its payment service to book IPL and movie tickets from mobile phones. The application is affiliated with Bookmyshow.
The facility is available for more than 500 movie theatres, and matches of four IPL teams — Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils. Kings Punjab and Rajasthan royals.
“We have been serving various services ranging from mobile recharges, travel tickets to utility bills payments and now with this new venture BEAM enters into the entertainment segment,” said Anand Shrivastav, chief managing director, BEAM.
The BEAM wallet service works similarly to Oxicash. It gives people the option of recharging their account by buying a BEAM card from shops that sell mobile coupons, or from pan shops in Hindi speaking states — UP, MP, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. The notable exception is Bihar, where the service is not available.
Accounts can also be recharged through credit and debit card payment, which means that the service is available for banked customers across the country.
The company is working to launch the service in eight metro cities that include Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune and Chandigarh.
BEAM provides rail and air tickets, merchant payment, home delivery services like pizzas, and bill payment services.
