Asus Zenfone Zoom hits Taiwan market, may come to India soon

The smartphone was also showcased at the Asus Zenfestival in Delhi few months back and was expected to be launched in India in October itself.

Asus Zenfone Zoom, which was formally unveiled at the IFA event in Berlin earlier this year, has been announced for the Taiwan market. The smartphone was also showcased at the Asus Zenfestival in Delhi few months back and was expected to be launched in India in October itself. But for some unknown reasons, Asus did not launch it then. Now with the launch of Zenfone Zoom in China, we can now expect it to be launched in India as well, especially since Asus till now has launched most of its Zenfone devices in the country.

The Asus Zenfone Zoom will hit the Taiwan market by the middle of this month and is said to be priced TWD 14,000 or Rs 28,365 approximately for the basic version that has 64 GB storage. Its two other models with 128 GB storage are reportedly priced at TWD 16,000 or Rs 32,416 approximately (black) and TWD 13,000 or Rs 26,338 approximately for the pink model.

The highlight of Asus Zenfone Zoom is its camera; it is said to be the world’s thinnest smartphone to feature a 13 camera and offers 3X optical-zoom as well. As per Asus, the Zenfone Zoom offers DSLR-style shooting experience. Camera features of Zenfone Zoom include- f/2.7 – f/4.8 aperture, 10-element Hoya lens, Laser auto focus, optical image stabilization (OIS), close-up shots with up to 12X magnification and Professional Panasonic SmartSFI sensor for optimized image. ZenFone Zoom also equipped with a 5 front camera for selfie lovers.

Besides this, Asus ZenFone Zoom features a 5.5-inch display (1920 x 1080 pixels) along with 4 and has anti-fingerprint coating too. It is powered by a quad-core Intel Atom processor and 4GB RAM. The Zenfone Zoom comes in two variants – 64GB and 128GB of internal storage, which the user can further expand via a micro SD card by up to 64 GB. The handset runs on 5.0 Lollipop operating system with ASUS ZenUI on top, and is packed with 3000 non-removable lithium-polymer battery along with ASUS BoostMaster technology that charges the battery from zero to 60% in just 39 minutes.

Connectivity options include 4G, WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, WiFi Direct, with A-GPS/GLONASS, 4.0, and microUSB 2.0 port. The handset measures 158.9 x 78.84 x 11.95~5 mm and weighs 185 grams and in the department it has Accelerometer, proximity, ambient light, gyroscope, digital compass and Hall-effect sensors.
