Asus Zenfone 3, Huawei P9 and other phones launched this week

A couple of high end smartphones launched in India this week along with some budget phones.

Not every week we see so many high end phones but this was one of the few such weeks. The high end phones came from Asus and Huawei. As usual, LYF and Intex increased their portfolios with some affordable handsets. Here is a recap of phones launched this week in India.

Asus Zenfone 3 series

This week certainly goes to Asus which announced the launch of Zenfone 3 series phones in India. The Zenfone 3 series consists of ZenFone 3, ZenFone 3 Deluxe, ZenFone 3 Ultra and ZenFone 3 Laser. ZenFone 3 will be available from today itself (17th August) for Rs 21,999 on all major e-commerce sites like Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal and in chain store – Sangeetha Mobiles. It will also be available at all leading retail stores across India before the end of August 2016.

ZenFone 3 Deluxe, ZenFone 3 Ultra and ZenFone 3 Laser will be available from September 2016 across all major e-commerce sites like Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal and leading retail stores and Asus Exclusive Stores across India. The ZenFone 3 Deluxe will be available at Rs 49,999, while ZenFone 3 Ultra will cost Rs 49,999 and ZenFone 3 Laser will be available for Rs 18,999

The Zenfone 3 comes in gold, black, and white colours. It has coating on both front and back panels while an aluminimum frame protects its internals. The Zenfone 3 has the Snapdragon 625 processor, a 16-megapixel rear camera, and an 8-megapixel front camera. It has two variants – one with a 5.2 inch full HD display, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal memory and a 2650 mAh battery while the other has a 5.5 inch IPS LCD full HD display, a 3000 mAh battery, 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal memory. Both the versions have fingerprint sensor, USB Type C port, expandable storage slot, MiMO WiFi, GPS, GLONASS, Beidou and Marshmallow operating system.

The Zenfone 3 Deluxe and Zenfone 3 Ultra have metal unibody. Both the phones come in grey, silver, and gold colours. The Zenfone 3 Deluxe has a 5.7-inch full HD touchscreen, 3000 mAh battery with Quick Charge technology, dual hybrid SIM slot, Android Marshmallow operating system, MiMO WiFi, GPS (with AGPS, GLONASS and Beidou), 8 megapixel front camera and a 23 megapixel rear camera that has 6 element lens, f2.0 aperture, dual tone flash light and Sony sensor. The Zenfone 3 Deluxe has two variants of Snapdragon 820 and 821 processor.

The Zenfone 3 Ultra has a huge 6.8-inch LCD screen that comes with full HD resolution. It is powered by a Snapdragon 652 processor and 4GB RAM. It too has a 23-megapixel rear camera, USB-C 3.0 port but comes with a bigger 4,600 mAh battery. The Zenfone 3 Ultra has 64 GB of internal memory, MiMO WiFi, GPS (with AGPS, GLONASS and Beidou), and fingerprint sensor.

The Asus Zenfone 3 Laser has 5.5 inch full HD display, 4 GB RAM, 32 GB ROM, 13 rear camera, 3000 mAh battery, dual hybrid SIM slot, Android Marshmallow operating system, 8 MP front camera, and Snpadragon 430 processor. It has GPS (with AGPS, GLONASS and Beioud, dual mic for noise cancellation, WiFi (b/g/n), WiFi Hotspot, Blutooth 4.0 and 128 GB micro SD card slot.

Huawei P9

Huawei, which made the Nexus 6P last year, launched a high end smartphone in India called Huawei P9. The handset has a price tag of Rs 39,999. It is available on Flipkart in silver, gold and grey colours. You can avail Flipkart’s exchange scheme while buying P9 as well.

The Huawei P9’s USP is its dual rear camera setup made in collaboration with Leica. The Huawei P9 has a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixel) IPS LCD display. Though it has a 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant, in India the Huawei P9’s 3 GB RAM model has been launched. This model has 32 GB of internal storage. It a sports a 3000 mAh battery and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with EMUI 4.1 on top. It is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 955 octa core processor and offers 4G connectivity.

Coming back to camera functionality, P9 features two 12-megapixel sensors, with one capturing light in colour, and the other captures images. It is expected that the combination will provide sharp and detailed images even in low light conditions.

Besides, the Huawei P9 has one SIM slot, WiFi (a/b/g/n/ac), WiFi Hotspot, port, 4.2, and 3.5 mm jack. It has a number of including Gravity Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Gyroscope, Compass, Ambient Light Sensor, Hall Effect Sensor, and Fingerprint Sensor.

Celkon Millennia Q599 Ufeel

The Millennia Q599 Ufeel is currently available for pre-order from Gadgets360 at Rs 3,299 and first sale scheduled on August 24. The smartphone comes in three different colors- Golden, Black, and Silver.

Vivo Y21L 4G

The Vivo Y21L 4G is priced at Rs 7,490 and is available for purchase exclusively at e-commerce portal onlymobiles.com. The smartphone comes in white color.

LYF Flame 7, Wind 7

Reliance Digital’s LYF added two more handsets to its portfolio. The new handsets are named as LYF Flame 7 and Wind 7 which are priced at Rs 3,499 and Rs 6,999 respectively. The Flame 7 comes in black colour while the LYF Wind 7 will be available in three colors – Black, White and Blue.

The LYF Flame 7 features a 4-inch WVGA (480 x 800 pixels) display with Asahi Dragontrail Glass protection. It is armed with a 1.5 GHz quad-core (SC9830A) processor, which is paired with Mali-400 GPU, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, and expandable storage of up-to 32 GB. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system.

The Flame 7 has a 1750 mAh battery, which claims to deliver talk-time of up to 4.5 hours and of up-to 175 hours on 4G network. The smartphone sports a 5-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. The camera features include HDR, Panorama, Face Detection, Smile Shutter, Burst Mode, Slow Motion Video, Metering, White Balance, Anti-Banding, ISO, and 4X.

On the other hand, LYF Wind 7 features a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display with AGC Glass protection. It is armed with 1.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 MSM8909 processor, which is paired with Adreno 304, 2GB RAM, and 16GB internal storage. Its expandable storage can hold a micro SD card of up-to 128 GB. This smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system as well.

The Wind 7’s 2250 mAh battery claims to deliver of up to 9 hours and standby time of up-to 180 hours on 4G network. The smartphone sports an 8-megapixel auto focus camera and an LED Flash light on its rear panel while for selfies and video calling it offers a 5-megapixel front camera.

Besides, the Wind 7 offers Dual SIM, 4G LTE with VoLTE, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, a micro USB port, Light Sensor, Accelerometer, Proximity Sensor, Flip to Mute, Double Tap to Wake, Slide up to unlock, Slide down to open camera, Music Player Control gestures, and Black Screen gestures for unlocking. The handset measures 143.5mmx72mmx8.7 mm and weighs 156 grams.

Intex Aqua Eco 4G, Aqua Viturbo

The Aqua Eco is priced at Rs 3,949, while the Aqua Viturbo cost Rs 3,330.

The Intex Aqua Eco 4G features a 4-inch display with of 800 x 480 pixels and is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core (SC9830 A) processor, along with 512MB of RAM. The smartphone comes with 4GB of internal storage, which is further expandable up-to 32GB via microSD card. The Aqua Eco 4G runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system.

The Aqua Viturbo smartphone has 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, which is further expandable up-to 32GB via microSD card. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system.
