Tim Cook recently claimed that the company will continue to invest a lot of time, money and efforts.
Apple has hinted a lot of time previously that they are more attracted towards Augmented Reality (AR) rather than Virtual Reality (VR). Tim Cook, CEO Apple recently claimed that the company will continue to invest a lot of time, money and efforts. Following this statement, today reports are coming out that Apple is allegedly working on implementing AR in iPhone's camera app.
Back in April 2015, Apple acquired Mataio, a German firm who actually created VR products for companies such as IKEA. Further, earlier this year in January Apple also acquired Flyby Media which reportedly worked with Google on 'Project Tango'. So if recent acquisitions are to be taken into account, this report does seem legit. Digging more inside, reports reveal that employees of both Mataio and Flyby Media are working on Apple's camera team. Moreover, we can also expect Apple to release the SDK for developers just like it did with Apple's Touch ID.
In the other news, Apple is also working on AR-enabled wearables through people could just point their iPhones at a real world object in order to recognise it. To be precise, Apple is working on a pair of glasses that when paired to an iPhone will display contextual information, reported Bloomberg earlier this week.
2017 being iPhone's 10th anniversary, Apple is likely to dump the name iPhone 7s, instead, it will go straight to iPhone 8. Further, recent reports have also suggested that iPhone 8 might come with a bezel-less display or even curved display but we still think it's too early to rely on such reports.
