Apple is now giving away Rs 3,900 as the refund amount to all those customers who have paid for the out-of-warranty battery replacement for the iPhone 6 or later models. The brand is offering the refund amount for iPhone devices between January 1, 2017, and December 28, 2017.
The company says that the amount will be provided as an electronic funds transfer or a credit on the credit card used to pay for the battery replacement service. The brand says that Eligible customers will be contacted by Apple via email between May 23, 2018, and July 27, 2018, with instructions on how to obtain the credit.
However, it is important to note that the refund will be offered to only those customers who have completed at an Apple authorized service location including Apple Store, Apple Repair Center, and Apple Authorized Service Provider.
“If you have not received an email from Apple by August 1, 2018, but believe you are eligible for a credit based on the terms above, please contact Apple by December 31, 2018. Note that proof of service at an Apple authorized service location may be required,” the company said in a post.
To recall, the whole issue came after Apple was found guilty of throttling the performance of older iPhones. The Cupertino-based tech giant apologized after After facing lawsuits and consumer outrage over intentionally slowing down older iPhones.
Apple then introduced battery replacement programme under which the brand cut down the price of battery replacements to Rs 2,000 (exclusive taxes). Earlier, users need to pay Rs 6,500 for battery replacement for older iPhones. The new battery replacement programme is eligible for iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPhone SE, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
