Xiaomi has rolled out the latest Android Nougat 7.0 update for its Xiaomi Mi 5 smartphone in India. The smartphone was launched in India last year in April with Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.
Do keep in mind that before you go for the downloading the update, check that battery of your smartphone. It should have at least50% charge and 2GB of free space is available. Since the update is being rolled out over-the-air, it may take some time before it comes to your device. One can also manually check for the update by going to Settings ->About Phone -> Software Update.
The Android Nougat brings in other features including split-screen multitasking, more customisable quick settings, improved Google keyboard, enhanced notifications and recent applications window. Further, the latest Android OS version also brings in ‘Double Tap’ on the Recent button to switch between the two most recent apps which come in very handy at times. For extended battery life, Android Nougat comes with ‘Doze on the go’ which will get activated even if your Nougat running device is in your pocket. It also includes new additional features such as home screen settings option, antivirus scan feature, new ringtones.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 has a 5.15 inch display that has full HD resolution. It is powered by a Snapdragon 820 Processor and comes along with Adreno 530 graphics processor, dual SIM, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, a fingerprint scanner and Android Marshmallow operating system, which will be now up-gradable to Android Nougat.
The phone has a 16-megapixel rear camera that has Sony IMX298 sensor, 6P lens, phase detection auto focus feature, LED flash light support, optical image stabilization and sapphire glass protection for lens. For selfies, the Mi 5 offers a 44-megapixelfront camera.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 is fueled by a 3000 mAh battery and comes with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology. It has a USB Type C port too. Other than that, the Mi 5 offers WiFi (a/b/g/n/ac), Bluetooth 4.2 and NFC. The handset measures 144.5×69.2×7.25mm and weighs 129 grams. The Xiaomi Mi 5 also has UFS 2.0 storage which is said to offer 87 per cent faster read write speed than eMMC 5.0 storage which is found in other smartphones. The Mi 5 comes with 4G+ (CAT 12 LTE modem) technology that can offer up to 600 Mbps speed. It also supports VoLTE.
