Bharti Airtel has today announced the launch of a new smartphone in partnership with Celkon. Dubbed as Celkon Star 4G+, the smartphone comes with an effective price of Rs 1,249 and it is a part Airtel’s ‘Mera Phela Smartphone’ initiative.
In order to avail the subsidised 4G smartphone, customer needs to make a down payment of Rs 2,749. Further, users will have to make 36 continuous monthly recharges of Rs 169. The customer will get a cash refund of Rs 500 after 18 months and another Rs 1,000 after 36 months, taking the total cash benefit to Rs 1,500.
In case the customer does not wish to opt for the Rs 169 bundled plan, one has the flexibility of doing recharges of any denomination and validity as per individual requirements. However, to claim the cash refund benefit, recharges worth Rs 3,000 must be done within the first 18 months (to claim the first refund instalment of Rs 500) and another Rs 3,000 over the next 18 months (to claim the second refund instalment of Rs 1,000).
Talking about Celkon Star 4G+, the smartphone comes loaded with a 4-inch WVGA display and it is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor. The phone is backed by a 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via micro SD card slot.

On the camera front, the phone offers a 3.2-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front-facing shooter. The device runs on a dated Android 6.0 Marshmallow and it comes preloaded with a host of Airtel apps including MyAirtel App, Airtel TV, and Wynk Music as well. On the connectivity front, it supports 4G VoLTE, dual-SIM, Bluetooth, WiFi, FM Radio, 3.5mm jack, GPS/AGPS and micro USB port.
