A majority of people are now willing to make notes on their mobile phones, according to a study. This has been a clear departure from the earlier mindset when people preferred other mediums like personal computer or the traditional paper over the mobile.

The findings are not out of the blue. Today mobile phones come with really good touchscreens with bigger and better displays. The inclusion of further makes it easy and natural to write in the mobile phone screen.

The survey was conducted in the US, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, China, India, Korea and Singapore. It was conducted online by independent survey agencies.

In the survey, consumers were asked to respond to a questionnaire whether they were ready for a device which gave them a writing experience just like pen and paper. Both men and women responded by saying they are willing to explore handwriting functionality in their phones, and 64.6 percent users said they would give up pen and paper if they could get the same experience of writing on pen and paper.

World over, 75.7 percent respondents said they would like to write their notes directly on images, maps, documents or websites and would like to share them with their friends also. Asian users were more willing to use such phones which supported hand writing.

CES 2012: Samsung to officially announce Airplay rival Swipeit

0

Global mobile phone and consumer electronics manufacturer, Samsung is all set to challenge Apple’s Airplay, which allows users to stream music wirelessly over WiFi or an Ethernet connection, with its very own Swipeit.

Like Airplay, Swipeit allows supported devices to stream media content including audio, video and pictures right from the based smartphone or tablet to a Samsung smart television without having the need of wires.

Samsung Electronics had made the application available on the Android stores already; to get the same, click here. It can be installed on any Android based smartphone or tablet with DLNA capabilities. Once installed, it is ready to stream the AV content on any Samsung smart television with just a simple setup to configure the television with the mobile device.

The application can be installed on any Android based Smartphone and not just limited to Samsung devices, making it even more useful for existing users which is in contrast to Airplay that is limited only to Apple devices.

Samsung has planned big things for the Swipeit content streaming service and in the near future, the handset manufacturer wants to add capabilities like content sharing facilities and detailed Meta tag information for multimedia files for better and easier access by multiple users.

This application was made available on the Android Market in a very subtle manner, perhaps keeping in mind the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2012. We hope Samsung to formally launch THE APP along with some new devices during the CES 2012.

Prepaid users to get data usage details through SMSes

0

All prepaid mobile users in India will soon get updates every time they consume data through their mobile phones. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has now made it mandatory for the telecom operators to send SMSes every time prepaid subscribers use data services.

Operators usually give alerts for voice calls but do not provide the same when it comes to data services, resulting unintended usages. Also, unlike postpaid users, prepaid customers do not get any itemised bills mentioning their usage and charges on services.

Notably, 96 percent of mobile users in India fall in prepaid category. The telecom regulator has set a 45 day deadline for the operators to implement the directives.

Meanwhile, TRAI has also issued colour codes for various prepaid tariff vouchers for easier identifications. The prepaid vouchers will now come in three colours &#151 Red, Green and Yellow.
Red coloured vouchers do not add monetary value and are meant only for the initial customers who take up a new connection or for enrolling users into a tariff plan. The green one will be a top up voucher with monetary value but without any restriction in terms of validity or usage.

On the other hand, the yellow coloured vouchers are for limited period and are special tariff vouchers.
