The updates bring with it the October 2019 Android security patches to Redmi 5 and Redmi 5A.
Xiaomi has now started rolling out MIUI 11 to Redmi 5 and Redmi 5A users in India. The updates bring with it the October 2019 Android security patches to both the devices.
MIUI 11 for Redmi 5 is about 458MB in size and it comes with version number MIUI 18.104.22.168.ODAMIXM. For Redmi 5A, the update is around 476MB in size and it comes with version number 22.214.171.124.OCKMIXM. Xiaomi has updated the security patch on both the devices with MIUI 11 update.
MIUI 11 brings features like a new minimalistic design, new dynamic sound effects inspired by the sounds of nature including animal, water and fire noises, updated Mi File Manager app, Steps Tracker, Wallpaper Carousel, and even a Floating Calculator. There’s also a new Mi Share file transfer tool and Mi Doc Viewer. It also brings continuous swipe for an additional menu in Game Turbo and a home screen shortcut inside the mode.
To recall, the Redmi 5 features a 5.7-inch HD+ display with a screen resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels. It’s powered by a 1.8GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 450 processor, along with Adreno 506 GPU, up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, 1.25μm pixel size, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash for selfies and video chats. The device has a fingerprint sensor at the back and is fuelled by a 3200mAh battery.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5A features 5-inch HD display with 720 x 1280 pixels resolution and is powered by a 1.4GHz Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor. It comes with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal storage. The Redmi 5A has a 3,000 mAh battery, a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies with f/2.0 aperture lens.
